TBT: To The Time Greg and I Went To A Museum on a Thursday: Post #17
When
we visited the Dallas Museum of Art, my friend Greg and I were very confused by
the events that where occurring on Thursday. We came across a very interesting
booth, a personality quiz matching us with a character from the show Park and Rec.
My quiz came up with Chris Traeger as the character I related most to. Each
character then connected to a piece of art. With being most related to Christ
Traeger it led me to the European Art section, Eiffel Tower by Robert Delaunay.
The work was bright and colorful with the center piece of the work being an
abstract design of the Eiffel Tower. The brightness in the art relates to my
personality in a way that I am an eternal optimist. My dad always said I never
saw the world as either being the glass half full or empty, I see the glass
overflowing. The artwork stood out to me, it was unique and bright, I quite
enjoyed it.
The
Eiffel Tower explodes with “bright color and dynamic movement of line and form,
this painting is an enthusiastic reading of modern technological advancement.” Delaunay
was arguably a very controversial artist of his time go against his
contemporaries “who warned against the ills of industrial society, Delaunay
understood the rapid changes occurring around him as signs of progress.” His
use of vibrate colors match perfectly with Chris Traeger and his vibrate and
bubbly personality. The personality quiz was a perfect way for me to find
something interesting about myself and match my personality to a work of art,
an art which I truly enjoyed. Now I have the opportunity to explore more works
from this artist and work similar to the Eiffel Tower.
