Embrace The Shake: Post #3

Phil Hansen held a Ted Talk about his inability to create due to his limitations. At first his limitations were his shaky hands, not being able to hold a pen or a paint brush still, his images would not come out the way he wanted. He tried for years to hold his hands still and fix his shakiness. Then he found out he could embrace his shake and use his limitation as inspiration for new and different art. His limitation allowed him to think outside the box and outside of himself, he embrace his shake, his limitation freeing him to create anything. Phil Hansen continued to set limitations for himself, forcing himself to be creative in new ways.

I have always struggled with getting outside of myself. Once I have idea, I rarely ever move or go away from my idea. I change and edit my idea to my satisfaction. Once I am stuck with an idea it gets hard for me to change from it. I wish I could have the ability to be able to delete my original idea and start over from scratch. However seeing Phil Hansen's Ted Talk allowed me to understand that limited myself isn't necessarily a bad idea. It could allow me to have new ideas and from those ideas I can create then destroy. Destroying an idea isn't bad, its freeing. It allows one to open themselves to whole new world of possibilities with out restraining oneself to a single idea. It is time for me to destroy and rebuild.
